Carnath
Gender: Male
Orientation: Straight
Age: Over 10,000 (I really did want to say 'over 9000' right there...)
Race: Dragon
Occupation: Being a dragon...
Personality: Carnath is extremely full of himself, which has been his downfall on more than one occasion. He hates humans, though he once was their greatest champion. He tends to keep to himself, save for his best friend, Ceallach. He has a distinct distrust of magic users, though Ceallach is a fae, and a powerful magic user, at that. Carnath knows that he is often contradictory in what he likes and does not like, but he could really care less.
History: The one remaining lore about this dragon speaks of a creature so ancient he had once helped neolithic mankind develop societies and culture. However, somewhere along the way, something happened that created a deep-seated hatred of humans in the dragon. In truth, as humans began to rise in number and power, they started to view the dragons as a threat rather than the help they had been. Dragons were powerful and somewhat mysterious to the humans, possessing thought processes that they could never fully understand. A once-small faction rose to popularity and started attacking the dragons. Carnath came home from a hunt to find his mate and offspring slaughtered, their blood running across the stones of the cave. In a state of shock and horror, he went into a fury, torching villages indiscriminately rather than seeking out the culprits. He convinced most of the other dragons that humans were a plague, only fit to be exterminated. So began the great war between dragons and humans.
In the year 1117 CE, holy mages discovered a way to use the small magics which allow dragons to shapeshift and to fly against them. They locked all dragons--pure and hybrid--in a magical Void. The Void lasted for a bit over six hundred years, during which time the trapped dragons were in a state of stasis. They could not see, hear, smell, touch, taste, or move. They were, however, left in their prison with their thoughts, unable to do anything but slowly go mad in their own minds. In 1784 CE, when the Void finally weakened enough for dragons to return to the world, many were so lost in their own heads that they did not even know to fly when the Void opened up in the sky. A good portion of the dragons fell to their death. The rest all retained some form of madness, with it being exhibited to more or less degree.
To this day, Carnath would kill a human as soon as look at one, and it is his not-so-secret wish that their entire race would be exterminated. He currently lives in his friend Ceallach's realm in the Undergreen, where he spends most of his days either in the volcano or buried in hot sands. He is slowly learning to trust again, but between what happened and his time spent in the Void, it is doubtful that he will ever return to what he once was. While other dragons have returned to their mates or found new ones, Carnath has shown no interest in doing so. He shuns the company of other dragons entirely.
Looks: In his natural form, Carnath is absolutely huge. His scales are ruby and russet, lightening to sunset orange and finally gold on the spines along his back and tail. His wings faded into the colour of a ripe peach. His eyes are fire-orange in colour. His human form has auburn hair with fiery highlights, and bronzed skin. His eyes do not change colour when he shifts forms. His human body is tall and packed with usable muscle. He makes for a very handsome young man, other than the fact that his sharp features and strange eyes make him still look vaguely draconic.
Powers/Abilities: Shapeshifting, fire-breathing, immense strength and size, flight.
