Yuralria
HUMANOID APPEARANCE
Hair: Thick, full hair, kept in a variety of styles. It is black near the roots but naturally fades to a shimmering mix of turquoise and blue. Waves of purple or green sometimes run through it, as well, and though she never dyes it, it is quite frequent to see a slightly different shade every time you look at her.
Eyes: Turquoise blue with slitted darker blue pupils , almond-shaped.
Skin Tone: Golden-Bronze
Body Build: Athletic, small frame, 5'11" (average for a female dragon)
DRAGON APPEARANCE
See picture. As dragons continue to grow throughout their lives, she is is considerably large. Coming in at around 20 meters long, she dwarfs many of the younger dragons in her full size.
PERSONALITY
Though she tends to keep to herself, Ria is neither antisocial nor unfriendly toward other dragons. It is more that her preferred habitats are nothing like what most dragons are comfortable in. Ria does have considerable caution when it comes to non-dragon sentient species, though, which is only to be expected, given her history with humans and fae. She does possess a typical dragon ego, but she is rather soft spoken. She is a thinker and philosopher, and she prefers to consider her words carefully rather than blurting out the first thing that comes to mind. Though she is slow to anger, she holds a cold grudge against any who have wronged her and can deploy considerable destruction.
HISTORY
Ria was hatched at the end of the Bronze Age, making her approximately 3300 years old (if one does not count the time she spent in the Void, which spanned 667 years). While she is not the oldest dragon, by far, it does place her at the younger edge of the 'elder group' of dragons who were hatched in the bronze age of humanity and earlier. Around the eighth century AD, a subset of fae who call themselves "The Clans" were hired to kill her. They failed, and that set off a centuries-long battle between her and the fae. She destroyed several of the fae villages and killed many of the inhabitants, then she suddenly seemed to disappear, along with every other dragon around the world.
This disappearance was due to a gathering of powerful mages in the year 1117 AD who joined their magic to create a Void. This Void was meant to contain the dragons for all eternity, but in 1784, the magics weakened, and the dragons were released. Since the trapped dragons were deprived of all sensation and left with nothing but their own thoughts for centuries, many emerged so insane that they could not function and fell to their deaths. Even the ones who survived this fate were not untouched by this experience, and every one came out with some level of insanity. Since her release from the Void, Ria--and every other dragon--have kept themselves to remote regions in order to avoid their discovery again by humans.
POWERS
The uncommon breed known as auroral dragons are the descendants of dragons possessing of rare, true earth magic as opposed to the magic of the aether that fae use. However, when the Cataclysm occurred, crashing the universe of the fae together with the universe containing earth, the leakage of power mutated the dragons, who were already receptive to magic. Auroral dragons possess the ability to use both types of magic, though since they do not have core aether like fae do, they are not susceptible to iron poisoning. Anything that can affect aether magic, however, can affect their use of it, as well. The effect of their magic ripples out across the sky like auroras, which is where their name comes from.
Like all dragons, Ria is able to shapeshift into a humanoid form, and the standard draconic magic allows her to transfer the shapeshifting ability to clothing and other small items on her person.
